As a part of our mission statement our section has had a long standing tradition of promoting plastics to the younger generation as a means of getting them interested in the variety of technology offered by our industry. Our international essay contest has always been a focal point of our philanthropy. Each year we award a monetary prize to the top essays written by students in both jr. and sr. high schools in the Central Indiana region.
In addition to the essay contest we have developed relationships with Purdue and Ball State Universities to further our presence at these institutions of higher learning. The section has also held meetings at both of these universities. Scholarships have been awarded to some of the best and brightest students in the field of plastics technology. We always offer and encourage students to further their studies of plastics by presenting programs and web-based learning through our national group.
